9 May Incidents: PTI Opposition Leader Sentenced to 10 Years in Prison

Punjab Assembly Opposition Leader Malik Ahmad Khan Bhachar has been sentenced to 10 years in prison in 9 May incidents case.

Lahore’s Anti-Terrorism Court Judge Arshad Javed conducted the trial at Kot Lakhpat Jail, where the defense and prosecution presented their final arguments.

The court completed the jail trial regarding the case of inciting speeches and arson at Sherpao Bridge on May 9. Anti-Terrorism Court also sentenced MNA Ahmad Chattha and all other party workers to 10 years imprisonment each.

None of the accused, including Opposition Leader Ahmad Khan Bachhar, were present in court at the time of the verdict. The court granted exemption from personal appearance to Ahmad Khan Bachhar and 32 other accused.

Dr. Yasmin Rashid and Shah Mahmood Qureshi Case

Judge Arshad Javed stated that Dr. Yasmin Rashid’s lawyer will present further arguments tomorrow at 10:00 AM, after which the verdict will be announced.

The trial of 14 accused, including Shah Mahmood Qureshi, has been completed, with 61 government witnesses having recorded their statements against them.

It is worth mentioning that most of the accused in the Mianwali riots and vandalism case are currently out on bail. Imran Khan has condemned the verdicts and urged PTI leaders to start nationwide protest from August 5.
